Andy Cohen shares a school pickup moment after a child mistakes him for his daughter Lucy’s grandfather that day once

Andy Cohen found himself at the centre of an amusing parenting moment after a child mistook him for his daughter Lucy’s grandfather.

The 58-year-old Bravo host shared the encounter on Instagram after picking up his 4-year-old daughter from school on September 10. According to Cohen, a child approached him and asked whether he was Lucy’s grandpa.

Cohen recalled being caught off guard by the question before removing his sunglasses and explaining that he was Lucy’s father. He then asked his daughter whether he was her grandfather, prompting Lucy to happily correct him by calling him “Dad”.

Cohen captioned the video “Rough…”, while several celebrities joined in with jokes and supportive comments. Real Housewives of Miami star Adriana de Moura called him “Hottest glampa”, while Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Bronwyn Newport joked about how quickly life can deliver an unexpected moment.

Comedian Amy Sedaris also commented that she frequently gets mistaken for a grandparent.

Cohen is the father of two children, Lucy and 7-year-old son Ben, both of whom were welcomed via surrogate. The Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host has previously spoken openly about becoming a parent later in life.

In a 2018 appearance on his Bravo show, Cohen said having a family had been something he wanted throughout his life and described parenthood as a rewarding new chapter.

He also discussed the benefits and challenges of being an older parent during a 2021 radio interview. Cohen said he tried to remain relaxed while balancing fatherhood with his demanding career and emphasised the importance of being present for his children.

The latest Instagram moment offered a lighter look at Cohen’s experience as a father, with Lucy quickly making it clear that he is very much her dad.
