Angelina Jolie says working with sons Maddox and Pax does not change her role as their mother

Angelina Jolie has spoken about working alongside her sons Maddox and Pax on her film projects, saying her role as their mother remains separate from her career as an actor and filmmaker.

Jolie, who shares six children with ex-husband Brad Pitt, discussed her family and upcoming film Without Blood in a recent interview with L’Officiel.

Maddox, 25, and Pax, 22, have both worked as assistant directors on some of Jolie’s film projects.

The actor explained that working on a film set can provide valuable experience for people interested in pursuing careers in the industry.

“I think if you have any interest in working on film, you need to be a part of the crew and do the hard work and know all the different departments,” she told the outlet.

Jolie said her sons are also developing interests outside filmmaking. Maddox has been training to become a pilot, while Pax has been developing his photography skills. She noted that Pax may still have an interest in working in film.

Although Jolie and her sons have shared professional experiences, she said their relationship is not defined by their work together.

“Obviously it's nice for me to be around them, but I am just Mom, wanting to be around her family,” she said.

Jolie has also spoken about supporting her children as they become adults and allowing them to develop their own interests and independence. 

Jolie said understanding the work involved in different departments is important for anyone seeking to enter the film industry.
