Kate Hudson explains why she and Danny Fujikawa are still unmarried 5 years after engagement
The pair have been together since 2017, welcomed their daughter Rani in 2018, and became engaged in 2021

Kate Hudson has explained why she and Danny Fujikawa have not married, five years after announcing their engagement.
The 47-year-old actress and musician Fujikawa, 40, have been together since 2017 and became engaged in 2021.
The couple share their seven-year-old daughter, Rani, who was born in October 2018.
During the September 8 episode of her Sibling Revelry podcast with brother Oliver Hudson, Kate discussed why they have yet to walk down the aisle.
The actress said the cost of a wedding is one reason she is hesitant.
“That’s part of why I don’t want to get married—it’s too expensive,” she said. “I just want hors d’oeuvres. I wanna do, like, chips and salsa.”
Kate also explained that organising a small wedding would be difficult because of her large family.
“I still am not married. I’m just engaged, and I keep thinking about wedding, like what are we gonna do,” she explained. “And then every time we start thinking about who we have to invite, Danny’s like, ‘I just want a small wedding.’ I’m like, ‘Our family alone is like 50 people.’”
“There’s a million kids,” she added. “There’s a million uncles and aunts and cousins.”
Oliver, who married Erinn Bartlett in 2006, shared his own experience of keeping his wedding guest list limited.
He recalled having 80 guests at their Mexico wedding and said, “I did not want to meet anyone at my wedding for the first time.”
Kate has previously discussed the possibility that she and Fujikawa may never marry, despite remaining engaged.
