Reese Witherspoon says Jennifer Aniston had every ex at her 50th birthday

Reese Witherspoon has revealed a surprising detail about Jennifer Aniston's 50th birthday celebration, claiming the actress had every ex husband and ex boyfriend at the milestone event.

Witherspoon made the revelation while discussing her longtime friendship with Aniston during an appearance on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast. The actresses have known each other for decades and worked together on Friends and The Morning Show, with Witherspoon playing Rachel Green's younger sister Jill on the former series.

The conversation turned personal as Witherspoon spoke about how she believes Aniston is often misunderstood by the public. She described her friend as warm, welcoming, nurturing and someone who does not hold onto old relationships or resentments.

Witherspoon said, "She's not who people think she is. She's not holding on to old things."

Shepard then brought up Aniston's former marriage to Brad Pitt, joking that she was not "pining for Brad Pitt". Witherspoon agreed before explaining why she believed Aniston's 50th birthday party was evidence of her ability to maintain cordial relationships with people from her past.

Speaking about the 2019 celebration, Witherspoon said, "People from her teenage years, people from her 20s, people who work in her home. Every ex husband, ex boyfriend was there."

She then described Aniston as having "high spiritual integrity" and agreed with Shepard when he characterised her as someone who does not burn bridges.

That comment has attracted renewed attention because Aniston's 50th birthday was already one of the most talked about celebrity parties of 2019. The actress celebrated the milestone at the Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles, with a guest list that included Reese Witherspoon, Courteney Cox, Kate Hudson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Katy Perry, George Clooney and Amal Clooney.

Aniston was previously married to Pitt from 2000 to 2005 and Justin Theroux from 2015 to 2018. Witherspoon did not identify which former boyfriends were present, meaning her statement should be understood as her recollection of the guest list rather than an independently confirmed list of every former partner.

The remark is particularly striking because public interest in Aniston's relationship with Pitt has remained intense years after their 2005 divorce. Witherspoon appeared keen to push back against the idea that Aniston remains emotionally attached to her former husband, saying that people make assumptions about the actress without knowing her personally.

Witherspoon also became emotional while explaining how unfair she believes those assumptions can be. She said she had cried during one of their interviews because people seemed determined to view Aniston through a version of her that did not reflect the person Witherspoon knows privately.
