Richard Osman confirms Netflix is still working on 'We Solve Murders' adaptation

Richard Osman has teased an update on the Netflix adaptation of his mystery novel We Solve Murders, revealing that work on the series is continuing.

The British presenter and author discussed the project during an appearance on BBC’s The One Show. When asked whether the planned adaptation was still moving forward at Netflix, Osman gave a brief but positive response.

“Well, I can’t say. But yes,” Osman said, adding that the project is what he and Netflix are currently working on.

Netflix acquired the rights to We Solve Murders before the novel was published in September 2024. Osman previously confirmed the deal during an appearance on ITV’s This Morning in February 2024.

The novel follows Amy Wheeler, an adrenaline-seeking private security professional who is hired to protect bestselling author Rosie D’Antonio on a remote island. After a body and a bag of money are discovered, Amy seeks help from her retired detective father-in-law, Steve Wheeler.

Together, Amy and Steve attempt to solve the murder and identify the person responsible.

The potential Netflix series would mark another collaboration between Osman and the streaming platform. His first novel, The Thursday Murder Club, was adapted into a Netflix film released in 2025.

Osman’s latest update comes shortly before the release of We Chase Shadows, the sequel to We Solve Murders. The new book is scheduled to arrive on September 15.

While Osman did not reveal details about the cast, production schedule or potential release date for the We Solve Murders series, his comments indicate that the Netflix adaptation remains in development.
