Mandy Moore discusses her role in The Land, Hilary Duff’s music comeback and her plans to return to music

Mandy Moore is preparing for the premiere of The Land, a new Hulu drama from This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman, while also discussing her family, Hilary Duff’s musical comeback and her own plans for music.

The actress stars in The Land alongside Christopher Meloni, William H. Macy, Chloe Bennet and Chace Crawford. The series follows a family that owns an NFL team, with Moore playing the daughter of Macy’s character who is determined to eventually take control of the organisation.

Moore described the show as a combination of Friday Night Lights and Succession, with the story focusing on football and family conflict. She also said she enjoyed playing a character very different from herself, describing her role as an ambitious woman who will do whatever it takes to secure the top position.

Although Moore has a music background, she said she does not see herself making the same kind of comeback as her friend Hilary Duff. Moore praised Duff’s return to performing and called her an inspiration.

“I am so proud to watch her absolutely crush it on stage,” Moore said, adding that Duff balances her career and motherhood while remaining a close friend.

Instead of pursuing a traditional pop-star comeback, Moore said she hopes to return to music later in life. She plans to potentially record and tour with her husband, musician Taylor Goldsmith, once their children are older.

Away from acting and music, Moore also discussed parenting and screen time. She said she uses ABCmouse with her children and relies on an app-blocking tool to manage her own phone use.
