Halle Berry and Colin Firth team up for new rom-com 'Otherwise Engaged'

Halle Berry, Zoë Kravitz, Colin Firth and Jack Whitehall are set to star in the new romantic comedy Otherwise Engaged

Halle Berry, Zoë Kravitz, Colin Firth and Jack Whitehall are teaming up for a new romantic comedy, Otherwise Engaged, which is heading to the international market ahead of production.

The film will be directed by Suzanne Farwell, a longtime producer and collaborator of filmmaker Nancy Meyers. Farwell co-wrote the screenplay with Gabriel Mizrahi.

Otherwise Engaged follows Charlie, played by Whitehall, who is preparing to marry his fiancée Gabby, portrayed by Kravitz. Their plans take an unexpected turn when Charlie’s estranged father, played by Firth, arrives after being released from prison.

The situation becomes even more complicated when Charlie’s father falls for Gabby’s fiercely independent mother, played by Berry. Their unexpected romance threatens to turn Charlie and Gabby’s dream wedding into a family nightmare.

Production on Otherwise Engaged is scheduled to begin in March 2027 in New York. Mister Smith Entertainment is handling international sales and will launch the film for pre-sales at the upcoming TIFF Market, while CAA Media Finance is handling US rights.

The film is being produced by Susan Cartsonis for Resonate Entertainment, Farwell and Laura Rister for Esme Grace Pictures.

Farwell is known for producing romantic comedies and other films including The Intern, It’s Complicated, Carrie Pilby and Sitting in Bars with Cake. With Berry, Kravitz, Firth and Whitehall leading the cast, Otherwise Engaged is shaping up as a star-studded addition to the romantic comedy genre.
