Josh Peck will host Food Network’s 'Sweet Deceit', a new baking competition where teams identify hidden cakes

Josh Peck is set to host Sweet Deceit, a new Food Network competition series that puts a twist on the popular hidden-cake format.

The series will premiere on October 5 at 10 p.m. ET on Food Network, with episodes streaming the following day on HBO Max. The launch will feature two back-to-back episodes.

Hosted by Peck, Sweet Deceit will follow teams of three competitors as they attempt to identify realistic-looking cakes disguised as everyday objects and environments. The competition will feature four rounds, with the teams trying to determine which creations are actually edible.

Unlike Netflix’s Is It Cake?, Sweet Deceit will take place in real-world locations and require contestants to taste their guesses. Teams will have to bite into the suspected cakes to determine whether they have identified the correct creation.

According to Food Network, the difficulty will increase throughout the rounds, with teams competing for a total prize of up to $12,000.

The first season will be divided into two themed batches. Sweet Deceit: Trick or Treat will premiere on October 5 and feature eight Halloween-themed episodes filmed at locations including haunted houses, a movie set morgue, a kindergarten Halloween party and the Magic Castle.

A second batch, Sweet Deceit: Holiday, will debut on November 16 at 9 p.m. ET. The eight holiday-themed episodes will feature settings such as a cosy cabin, an ice rink and Santa’s workshop.

Peck will be joined by rotating guest cake artists, including Jose Barajas, Jonny Manganello, Andrew Fuller, Ashley Holt, April Julian and Liz Marek.
