Stephanie March is set to return as assistant district attorney Alexandra Cabot in the upcoming ninth episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit season 28, bringing the familiar character back to the long-running crime drama.

March has portrayed Cabot in more than 100 episodes of the NBC series. She first joined the main cast in season 2 in 2000 and remained a regular until season 5 in 2003. Her character eventually had to fake her own death and enter witness protection, marking a major turning point in her storyline.

Following her departure from the main cast, March returned as a guest star several times over the years. Her appearances included seasons 6, 10, 11, 13 and 19, with her most recent appearance in 2018. Her return in season 28 will mark another appearance for the character, who has remained a recognisable part of the show's history.

Beyond Law & Order: SVU, March also starred as Alexandra Cabot in Conviction, a legal drama that served as a short-lived spin-off of the crime series in 2006.

The actress's other credits include Ricky Gervais' 2009 comedy film The Invention of Lying, the 2017 independent film Who We Are Now and the 2019 mockumentary The Social Ones. She also appeared in Ava DuVernay's 2023 film Origin and collaborated with the filmmaker on the 2022 television series Naomi. In 2023, March appeared in the Amazon Prime Video series Harlan Coben's Shelter.

Created by Dick Wolf, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit holds the record as the longest-running primetime drama in American television history. The series airs on NBC on Thursdays at 9pm.

The current cast includes Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Peter Scanavino, Kelli Giddish, Kevin Kane, Aimé Donna Kelly and Corey Cott. Wolf executive produces the series alongside Hargitay and several other producers. Universal Television produces the show in association with Wolf Entertainment.
