Heated Rivalry Season 2 has added Milla Jovovich, Kevin Zegers and Paul Gross to its cast ahead of the hit hockey romance series’ return to HBO Max in spring 2027.

Zegers, known for The Madison and Transamerica, will play Coach Wiebe, while Gross will portray Commissioner Roger Crowell. Jovovich, whose credits include Resident Evil and The Fifth Element, has been cast as Dr. Galina Molchalina.

The three actors join returning stars Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams, who play Russian hockey player Ilya Rozanov and Canadian hockey player Shane Hollander. The Season 2 cast also includes Justice Smith, Charlie Gillespie, Daniel Diemer, Shaheen Jafargholi, Robert Naylor, Sophie Nélisse, Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova, Edvin Ryding, François Arnaud, Christina Chang, Dylan Walsh, Robbie G.K., Callan Potter, Benjamin Roy, Kamilla Kowal, Emily Hampshire, Sabrina Jalees and Priyanka.

Created by Jacob Tierney, Heated Rivalry follows Shane and Ilya, two rival professional hockey players whose secret relationship develops into a long-term romance. The series is based on Rachel Reid’s Game Changers book series.

Season 2 draws from Reid’s sixth book, The Long Game, and follows Shane and Ilya as they play for teams that are geographically closer while dealing with the challenges of making their relationship public.

The Canadian series originally premiered on Crave before gaining a larger international audience following its HBO Max debut. It became a major word-of-mouth hit in early 2026, with episodes reportedly averaging more than 10 million viewers.

Heated Rivalry Season 2 is expected to premiere on HBO Max in spring 2027.
