KARACHI:

The identities of the two police officials seen in CCTV footage of a confrontation between women at a residential building in the posh Defence area have emerged, with sources confirming that both personnel belonged to Korangi district police.

The incident took place at a residential building in the Chhota Bukhari Commercial Area of DHA Phase VI, within the jurisdiction of Darakhshan police station.

According to sources, the two officials seen coming down the stairs with a family were identified as Haider and Saqib. Both are posted at Korangi police station and had reportedly been deployed for security duty at the residence of SSP Korangi.

The two officials were summoned to Korangi police station on Sunday, where their statements were recorded at the station level.

Sources said the officials seen coming upstairs in the CCTV footage belonged to the Madadgar 15 police unit.

Another man seen arriving at the scene wearing a white shalwar kameez was also identified as a police constable.

Meanwhile, the personnel seen dragging a man and placing him in a police vehicle belonged to Darakhshan police station. They were identified as ASI Aftab Mangi, Safdar and driver Yousuf.

According to police sources, a Madadgar 15 call prompted police personnel to reach the scene.

The response was subsequently handled by personnel from Darakhshan police station and Madadgar 15.

Sources said the man allegedly resisted strongly, forcing the police personnel to drag him to the vehicle.

The sources further claimed that Madadgar 15 officials had not been cooperating with the inquiry. They said the unit had been asked twice to send the relevant personnel to record their statements. "If they do not appear today, a formal letter will be sent to Madadgar 15," the sources said.

Meanwhile, the three Darakhshan police officials have been summoned to the office of the DIG South for questioning.

Sources said the three officials, along with the serving and former SHOs of Darakhshan police station, reached the DIG South's office, where their statements were being recorded.
