Lana Condor has asked Marvel filmmakers to bring Jubilee after ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ barely used her

Lana Condor is making it clear that she is ready to put Jubilee’s yellow jacket back on, nearly a decade after her brief appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse. The actor has expressed strong interest in returning as Jubilation Lee for Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot, while stressing that no comeback has been confirmed.

Condor played Jubilee in the 2016 Fox superhero film, which marked her feature film debut. Although Jubilee is a familiar and popular character from Marvel Comics and the animated X-Men universe, her role in X-Men: Apocalypse was heavily limited in the theatrical cut. Condor has previously spoken about wanting the opportunity to explore the character properly, and her latest comments show that the idea remains important to her.

Speaking with The Direct during San Diego Comic Con 2026, Condor said she would welcome the opportunity to reprise the role. She also revealed that she had approached the filmmakers working on Marvel Studios’ new X-Men project herself.

"I would love nothing more than to come back as Jubilation Lee," Condor said. She added that she had told the filmmakers, "Hey, listen, I’m 10 years older now. I know more. Bring me back. So we’ll see."

Her comments are particularly notable because Marvel Studios is developing a new X-Men film for its Marvel Cinematic Universe. The project is scheduled for release on May 5, 2028, with Jake Schreier attached to direct. Marvel has already announced several members of the new cast, including Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister.

Condor has not been announced as part of that cast, meaning her remarks should not be treated as confirmation that Jubilee will appear. Her reported discussions with filmmakers indicate that she has made her interest known, but Marvel Studios has yet to reveal whether the character will be included or who will portray her.

The actor has been vocal about Jubilee for years. In a 2020 interview with TheWrap, Condor said she wanted to "do her justice" because she felt the character had not received the treatment she deserved. She also explained that there was considerable material involving Jubilee that never reached audiences.

That frustration stems partly from how little of Condor's work appeared in the final version of X-Men: Apocalypse. A popular scene compilation has counted roughly 32 seconds of Jubilee footage in the theatrical film, although Condor filmed additional material. Some of the deleted material gave Jubilee a stronger presence alongside the younger mutants, including scenes connected to Cyclops, Jean Grey and Nightcrawler.

Jubilee is known for generating colourful plasma energy from her hands, a power that has made her one of the recognisable younger members of the X-Men. Her limited use in the Fox films has often been noted by fans, particularly because the character has a much larger presence in other versions of the franchise.

Condor also pointed out the personal significance of the franchise during her recent interview, noting that her first Comic Con appearance was connected to X-Men: Apocalypse a decade earlier. A return would therefore represent a reunion with the character who helped launch her film career.
