Lauren London joins 'Snoop' biopic as rapper’s mother Beverly Tate

Lauren London has joined the cast of Snoop, the upcoming biopic about rapper Snoop Dogg, in the role of his late mother, Beverly Tate.

According to Deadline, the 41-year-old actor will portray Tate, who was a church choir director and ordained evangelist.

She played an important role in Snoop Dogg’s upbringing and musical development before her death in October 2021 at the age of 70.

Tate was also connected to one of the stories behind her son’s stage name. Snoop Dogg has previously said that his mother gave him the nickname “Snoopy” after noticing his love for Peanuts and believing he resembled the cartoon dog.

The rapper later paid tribute to his mother through his 2025 gospel album Altar Call, which he dedicated to her memory.

London and Snoop Dogg have worked together previously. The actor appeared in two of the rapper’s music videos in the early 2000s, including the 2002 video for “From tha Chuuuch to da Palace” and the 2004 video for “Drop It Like It's Hot”.

Jonathan Daviss will play Snoop Dogg in the biopic, while Myles Bullock has been cast as Dr. Dre. Camron Jones will portray 2Pac.

London’s previous acting credits include Netflix’s You People, Without Remorse, ATL and Games People Play.

Snoop is scheduled to open in cinemas on August 6, 2027. The film will explore the life and career of Snoop Dogg, with its cast portraying several figures connected to the rapper’s personal history and rise in hip-hop.
