Sasha Calle has joined Jamie Foxx in Deadlocked, a new action film in development at Amazon MGM Studios. The project will be directed by Nikhil Bhat and is being produced for streaming.
Deadlocked follows a grieving former Marine who is serving jury duty when a high-profile trial suddenly turns into a deadly hostage crisis. The situation forces him back into action after the defendant’s daughter takes control of the courthouse in an attempt to free her father.
Eric Scott Anderson and Matt Takejiro Bosack wrote the screenplay from their original idea. The film is produced by Fred Berger for Range, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Dave Caplan for C2 and Foxx for Foxxhole Productions. AJ Bourscheid, Liz Destro, Paul Currie and Corinne Foxx are executive producing.
The casting adds another major project to Calle’s growing film career. The actress recently appeared alongside Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in The Rip, Joe Carnahan’s crime thriller for Netflix. The film was released in January and spent six weeks among Netflix’s global Top 10 films.
Calle can also currently be seen opposite Colin Farrell in Season 2 of Apple TV’s neo-noir series Sugar. Her upcoming projects include Mike Flanagan’s new take on The Exorcist, in which she will star alongside Scarlett Johansson. Universal is scheduled to release the film in theatres on March 12, 2027.
Calle made her feature debut as Supergirl in Warner Bros.’ The Flash, becoming the first Latina actress to portray the superhero in a major studio film. Her other credits include On Swift Horses and In the Summers, which won the Grand Jury Prize and Directing Award at Sundance in 2024.
Earlier in her career, Calle won a Daytime Emmy for her work on The Young and the Restless.
