Citizen Facilitation Centres planned

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Science, Technology and Information Technology Shafi Jan has directed the establishment of Citizen Facilitation Centres in every district of the province to provide multiple government services to citizens under one roof.

He issued the directives while chairing a high-level meeting at the office of Secretary Science and Information Technology Abdul Basit on Thursday. Director General Science and Technology Sajid Ali Shah, Managing Director Information Technology Board Dr Aqif Khan and other senior officials attended the meeting.

The minister was briefed on the department's performance, ongoing projects and future initiatives aimed at promoting science, technology, innovation, e-governance, digitalisation, research and development.

Officials said the department was also working to promote industrial development, IT education and training and provide business support to local IT companies. Initiatives were underway for establishing IT parks and promoting software exports, while six Model IT Labs had already been established in schools in the merged districts.
