The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt announces new free remaster along with Songs of the Past expansion

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered launches September 29, while Songs of the Past arrives in 2027

CD Projekt Red has announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered will launch on September 29, 2026, alongside the release of the game on two new platforms.

The company also revealed the first look at Songs of the Past, a new paid expansion scheduled for 2027.

The remastered version will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as a free upgrade for existing owners on qualifying platforms.

It will include visual and performance improvements alongside gameplay changes, including enhanced combat, traversal and movement, new witcher sign effects, revamped mount handling and improved monster behaviours.

The update will also introduce a revamped skill tree, transmogrification, an expanded photo mode and new finishers.

A native version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 29, with pre-orders now available.

The game will also arrive on Battle.net through a new partnership between CD Projekt Red and Blizzard Entertainment.

Players who purchase Songs of the Past through Blizzard’s platform will receive a special Geralt-inspired skin for Diablo 4, with further details expected at BlizzCon in September.

Songs of the Past will take players to Letten, a new region characterised by rural traditions, folklore, harvests and festivals. The area also conceals a dark secret, with Geralt facing new enemies and a long-dormant evil.

The expansion will launch in 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. It is now available to wishlist on select platforms.

As part of the announcement, all current owners of The Witcher 3 will also gain access to Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine at no additional cost.

CD Projekt Red is co-developing Songs of the Past with Fool’s Theory, while Yigsoft is co-developing the Remastered version.
