'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' sequel is in early development at Paramount, with Kate Hudson attached to produce

A sequel to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is in early development at Paramount, with original star Kate Hudson attached to produce the project.

Development is at an early stage, with the cast and several key creative roles yet to be confirmed.

According to a source close to the project, the filmmakers and studio hope Hudson and her original co-star Matthew McConaughey will reprise their respective roles as Andie Anderson and Benjamin Barry.

The project is currently searching for a screenwriter, meaning casting decisions will depend on the eventual creative direction of the sequel.

Stacy Sher is also attached to produce alongside Hudson through her Shiny Penny banner. 

The original How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was released in 2003 and centred on the relationship between magazine columnist Andie and advertising executive Benjamin.

Andie attempts to drive Benjamin away as research for an article about dating, while Benjamin bets his boss that he can make a woman fall in love with him.

Donald Petrie directed the romantic comedy, which also starred Kathryn Hahn, Adam Goldberg, Thomas Lennon, Michael Michele and Shalom Harlow. The film earned nearly $180 million worldwide against a reported $50 million budget.
