Jessica Lange slams FX over lack of transport on ‘American Horror Story’
The actress recalled finishing work around 4am or 5am while filming the series in New Orleans

Jessica Lange has revived an old complaint about working on American Horror Story, criticising FX over transportation arrangements during the production of the series’ third season.
Speaking during an American Horror Story panel at PALEYFEST NEW YORK, Lange recalled filming Coven in 2013 and said cast members had to drive themselves home after late night shoots.
“We had to drive ourselves,” Lange said, revisiting a grievance that has apparently stayed with her for years. She then delivered her blunt assessment of the production’s approach to transportation: “Too f****** cheap.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lange explained that filming sometimes wrapped around 4am or 5am, leaving her to drive home through New Orleans after a long night on set. Her comments prompted a reaction from fellow star Sarah Paulson, who laughed and covered her face.
The complaint resurfaced as the horror anthology prepares to reunite familiar faces for its thirteenth season. Lange is returning to the franchise for the first time since Apocalypse in 2018, bringing back characters associated with several previous instalments.
Lange has played multiple memorable roles throughout the series, including Constance Langdon in Murder House, Sister Jude in Asylum, Fiona Goode in Coven and Elsa Mars in Freak Show. Her return has added to the anticipation surrounding the new season’s crossover storyline.
The thirteenth season brings together characters and performers from across the anthology, including Paulson, Evan Peters and Angela Bassett. Other returning cast members include Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe and Leslie Grossman.
The season also revisits familiar settings, including Miss Robichaux’s Academy from Coven, as the franchise draws on its earlier stories.
Lange’s remarks concern her experience during the 2013 production. The available report does not establish whether the same transportation arrangements continued in later seasons or whether FX has responded to her latest comments.
Her return nevertheless places the actress back at the centre of a franchise that helped define her television career.
