‘Breaking Bad’ actor RJ Mitte final wishes resurface after death
He had hoped to keep his Heisenberg hat, clothing and crutches together as a small museum

RJ Mitte, best known for playing Walter White Jr in Breaking Bad, has died at the age of 34. His representatives confirmed his death on October 12, while authorities in Brownsville, Texas, said he was pronounced dead at around 1:30pm local time.
The cause of death has not been officially disclosed. Although some reports have cited suicide, law enforcement has said the investigation remains ongoing, and the circumstances should not be treated as conclusively established.
Mitte portrayed Walter White’s son, nicknamed Flynn, across five seasons of Breaking Bad, which aired from 2008 to 2013. The character had cerebral palsy, a condition Mitte also lived with, and his performance helped bring disability representation to television.
After the series, he continued working in film and television, with credits including Switched at Birth, The Oak Room, Triumph and The Guardians of Justice. He also advocated for disability awareness, serving as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s.
Before his death, Mitte spoke about preserving items from Breaking Bad. In an interview quoted by Men’s Journal, he said he had told his family that the memorabilia should not be sold after his death and that he wanted it kept together like a small museum.
“I tell my family, it’s gonna be in my will, no one’s allowed to sell my stuff, even after I’m dead,” he said. He mentioned a Heisenberg hat, clothing from the show and his crutches, adding that the crutches were the items he most wanted to keep.
Mitte was adopted after birth by Roy Frank Mitte Jr and Dyna Mitte, and grew up with his sister, Lacianne Carriere. He became engaged to Kennedy Suarez after proposing in October 2025.
His representatives remembered him as an actor, philanthropist and disability rights advocate whose work encouraged greater awareness and inclusion.
