RAWALPINDI:

Police registered a case and launched an investigation on Tuesday after a man allegedly assaulted his former brother-in-law and other family members and threw acid at two of them in the Kallar Syedan area of Rawalpindi for objecting to the use of abusive language in their presence.

According to police, the complainant, Zafar Ali, a resident of Sehri, Kallar Syedan, said he worked as a tailor. He stated that his sister, Suraiya Bibi, had been married to Azhar Hussain, but the couple had divorced approximately two years ago.

The complainant alleged that Azhar Hussain was a man of questionable character who frequently brought people to his house and sat in the courtyard using obscene and abusive language at a high volume.

He said on June 1, he was at home with his family members when Azhar Hussain allegedly began shouting abusive remarks. When Zafar asked him to stop, Azhar allegedly pulled down blocks from a wall and began abusing him.
