ECP withdraws PTI's Murad seat notification
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has withdrawn its notification declaring a Senate seat vacant following PTI leader Murad Saeed's disqualification and ordering a by-election.
The ECP also issued a written order allowing an application filed by PML-N MPA Jalal Khan. According to the written order, Murad Saeed never took the oath as a member of the Senate and therefore had not constitutionally assumed the office.
The commission observed that, under the law, Saeed's disqualification did not create a vacant Senate seat. The ECP consequently withdrew its earlier notification.
