Erling Haaland debuts dramatic hair change as girlfriend Isabel Haugseng Johansen reacts

Erling Haaland has debuted a new buzz cut after cutting off the long blond hair that has become closely associated with his public image, with girlfriend Isabel Haugseng Johansen admitting she was surprised by the transformation.

The Manchester City striker revealed his new hairstyle in a YouTube video ahead of the club's Premier League opener against Bournemouth. Haaland initially had his hair cut into a shorter blond bob before opting for a close-cropped buzz cut.

Isabel was present during the transformation and reacted as sections of Haaland's hair were removed. "I think I will cry," she said before later staring at the hair in her hands and exclaiming: "Oh my God."

After seeing the finished look, Isabel offered a positive assessment. "It looks nice. You look cute," she told Haaland. He questioned the description, having apparently hoped the new style would appear tougher.

Isabel also joked about adjusting to the change, saying: "I'll wake up in the morning and think, who's that?"

Haaland had previously revealed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic advised him against cutting his hair, telling him that "your strength is in your hair." However, the Norwegian ultimately decided to proceed with the haircut.

The footballer also anticipated a reaction from Manchester City supporters, joking: "Can't wait for the fans to sing, 'Who the [expletive] hell is that?'" He added: "I want Man City fans to sing that."

The haircut also coincided with a change for Isabel, who shared a photograph of her freshly trimmed brunette hair on Instagram, writing, "A lil refresh for fall x."
