KATSEYE beats Phoebe Bridgers to the top as 'WILD' makes Billboard 200 history

KATSEYE has reached a major career milestone with WILD, earning the group its first No. 1 position on the Billboard 200. The five track project opened at the top of the US albums chart with 170,000 equivalent album units, according to Luminate, giving the group its biggest chart week to date.

The result marks a sharp rise for the group, which previously peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 with its 2025 release Beautiful Chaos. KATSEYE's debut EP, SIS (Soft Is Strong), reached No. 98 after its release in 2024. The new chart result therefore represents a significant jump from the group's earlier positions and establishes its strongest performance on the albums chart so far.

WILD generated 145,000 units from traditional album sales, alongside its activity across streaming and other consumption formats. The project is led by the singles "Pinky Up" and "Hootie Frutti" and contains five tracks. Its sales performance also gives KATSEYE a notable place in the history of all woman groups on the Billboard 200.

According to the chart data reported by Billboard, WILD becomes only the fourth No. 1 album by an all woman group during the 2020s. It follows releases from TWICE, NewJeans and BLACKPINK, placing KATSEYE in a select group of female acts to have reached the summit during the decade. The project also delivered the largest pure album sales week for an all woman group in over three years.

KATSEYE's rise has been building since the group emerged through HYBE and Geffen Records' Dream Academy. The group has expanded its profile through live performances and high profile festival appearances, including its Coachella debut earlier this year. Before the arrival of WILD, KATSEYE had already established itself as one of the most visible new acts operating across K pop and global pop audiences.

Behind KATSEYE on this week's Billboard 200 is Phoebe Bridgers, whose Lost Weekend debuts at No. 2 with 118,000 equivalent album units. The result gives Bridgers her first solo top 10 album and her biggest opening week by units. Her previous top 10 appearance came as part of boygenius, alongside Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, whose 2023 album The Record reached No. 4.

Lost Weekend is Bridgers' first solo album since 2020's Punisher, ending a lengthy wait for a follow up. The singer had remained active through boygenius during the intervening years, making the new solo release a significant return to the Billboard 200.

The rest of the week's top five features Stray Kids' This & That at No. 3, Olivia Rodrigo's You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love at No. 4 and Ella Langley's Dandelion at No. 5. Morgan Wallen's I'm the Problem follows at No. 6, while Ariana Grande's Petal sits at No. 8, Drake's Iceman at No. 9 and Olivia Dean's The Art of Loving at No. 10.

For KATSEYE, the No. 1 debut provides the clearest indication yet of how quickly the group has expanded its audience. WILD has now converted that momentum into the group's first Billboard 200 chart topping release, while its sales performance places the act among a small group of all woman groups to have reached the summit in the 2020s.
