Keith Urban became emotional while performing a song about losing a former love during a concert in Atlantic City, amid reports that his ex-wife Nicole Kidman may have moved on following their divorce.

The 58-year-old country singer performed We Go Back at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City on Friday night. The track appears on his latest album, Flow State, which was released in June.

Before beginning the song, Urban explained its storyline to the audience, describing a relationship between childhood sweethearts that ends after the man makes a mistake.

"This song is about a guy and a girl growing up in a small town," he said. "They were the first of their friends to fall in love. They had a good thing going, until the guy screwed it up. I will do that."

Urban continued by explaining that the former couple later meet again after many years apart.

"This guy can't believe it. He sees the girl, she looks exactly the same. They start talking, they are getting along great. She tells him she's got somebody else," he said.

The song centres on the man's regret after losing the relationship and learning that it is now "too late" because his former partner has found somebody new.

Footage from the performance showed Urban becoming visibly emotional during the song, crouching down and wiping tears from his face while smiling towards the audience.

"This is why we keep coming back to Atlantic City," he told fans.

The performance comes months after Urban and Kidman finalised their divorce following almost 20 years of marriage.

The former couple separated in 2025, with Kidman filing for divorce in September. Proceedings were finalised in January 2026.

Kidman, 59, has recently been linked to businessman Michael Reinstein after they were reportedly seen together in Portofino, Italy. Neither has publicly confirmed a relationship.
