Minister praises enthusiastic public response in Hangu

PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information and Public Relations Minister Shafi Jan has said the enthusiastic public response to the outreach campaign in Hangu, led by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, is a clear indication of the success of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) September 27 long march on Islamabad.

He said the successful public mobilisation demonstrated growing public confidence in PTI founder Imran Khan and their determination to stand by him. "Millions of people will participate in the September 27 long march in Islamabad, which has left the Form 47 rulers deeply worried," he said.

Shafi Jan warned the federal and Punjab governments that no number of unconstitutional or illegal measures could break Imran Khan's courage, determination and resolve. He described Imran Khan as the country's most popular leader and the main source of hope for the people, particularly the youth.

The minister alleged that the federal government's disregard for court orders in matters concerning Imran Khan showed that it considered itself above the Constitution and law. He accused the government of using illegal tactics over Imran Khan's health and politicising the issue of his medical treatment.

He said PTI had approached the Supreme Court seeking contempt proceedings against the federal government over its alleged violation of court orders. "The federal government will now have to answer in court for its illegal actions," he added.
