Anti-littering squad launched
Offenders dumping waste from moving vehicles to face fines of up to Rs50k

The Anti-Littering Squad has been launched in Faisalabad to curb littering, raise public awareness about cleanliness and promote environmentally responsible waste-disposal practices.
Faisalabad Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh inaugurated the squad at the Municipal Corporation Faisalabad.
Suthra Punjab Agency Managing Director Abid Hussain Bhatti, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Usman Ghani and other relevant officials were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sheikh said the primary objective of the squad was to discourage citizens from throwing waste in public places, promote cleanliness and take effective action against littering.
He said squad personnel would monitor commercial markets, major roads, public places and other key areas while educating citizens about responsible waste disposal.
The commissioner warned that strict action would also be taken against people who throw garbage from moving vehicles.
With the help of cameras installed by the Safe City Authority, such offenders would be identified and issued challans of up to Rs50,000, he said.
Dr Sheikh said the Anti-Littering Squad was a joint initiative of the Suthra Punjab Agency and the Municipal Corporation Faisalabad. The municipal corporation had provided e-bikes, while the Suthra Punjab Agency had supplied the required human resources.
He said the initiative was aimed at improving cleanliness standards across the city and encouraging citizens to adopt responsible waste-disposal habits.
"Making Faisalabad a clean, beautiful and environment-friendly city is among the administration's top priorities," the commissioner said, adding that deploying sanitation workers alone would not be sufficient without active public cooperation.
He urged citizens to dispose of waste in designated bins or hand it over to Suthra Punjab sanitation teams instead of dumping it in public places.
