Motorcyclist killed in 'CCD encounter'

A man was killed in firing allegedly by his.accomplices during an encounter with Crime Control Department (CCD) near Faizpur Canal, while two armed suspects managed to escape in darkness, police said here on Tuesday. According to sources, a CCD team was conducting routine patrolling near Pull Dera Machine when three suspicious men riding a motorcycle attempted to flee after spotting it.

The suspects allegedly tried to turn the motorcycle around but fell due to high speed. They abandoned the motorcycle and opened fire on the personnel who took cover behind an official vehicle and nearby trees and returned fire. The exchange of fire continued for some time, during which one of the suspects suffered injuries allegedly from firing by his accomplices and fell near the canal.

The other two suspects continued firing and escaped towards Pull Mithu and Saddar Bypass, according to the police.
