Six held in anti-graft crackdown

The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has arrested six suspects, including two officials of the land revenue department, in separate operations in Dera Ghazi Khan and Muzaffargarh over alleged corruption and financial irregularities.
Those arrested include two patwaris who were allegedly caught red-handed while receiving bribes, three officials of Suthra Punjab and a former Food Grain Inspector in Muzaffargarh.
According to ACE officials, the three Suthra Punjab officials allegedly caused a loss of Rs188.45 million to the government through irregularities in the handling of public funds.
The operations were conducted on the directions of ACE Punjab Director General Sohail Zafar Chattha and Regional Director Dera Ghazi Khan Malik Zia-ul-Haq.
In Muzaffargarh, Circle Officer Ammar Yasir Khan arrested Muradabad circle Patwari Nadeem Aslam while he was allegedly receiving Rs30,000 in marked currency notes as a bribe.
In a separate operation in Dera Ghazi Khan, Circle Officer Headquarters Shahzad Gul arrested Patwari Muhammad Jameel Chandia while he was allegedly accepting Rs35,000 in marked currency notes.
ACE officials said a total of Rs65,000 in alleged bribe money was recovered during the two operations.
In a major action against officials of Suthra Punjab in Dera Ghazi Khan, ACE arrested Chief Finance Officer Muhammad Habib, Operational Manager Muhammad Hasnain and Suthra Punjab Tehsil Manager for Rajanpur, Umar Farooq.
