Woman allegedly commits suicide

LAHORE:

A woman allegedly died after consuming poisonous pills following a domestic dispute with her husband in Hanjarwal.

The deceased was identified as Faiza Babar, a resident of Hanjarwal. She had reportedly been facing frequent disputes with her husband, who had recently served her a divorce notice.

The woman allegedly consumed tablets used for protecting wheat from pests after becoming distressed over the situation.

Her condition deteriorated and she was shifted to a hospital in an unconscious state, where she later died. After being informed, police reached the hospital and shifted the body for a post-mortem examination. Legal proceedings have been initiated, police said.

Meanwhile, two suspected robbers were injured and arrested during separate alleged police encounters in Lahore, while their accomplices escaped, police said.

The suspects allegedly opened fire and attempted to flee. During the chase, one suspect, identified as Muhammad Hassan Sohail, was injured.

Police said Hassan was wanted in robbery and other serious criminal cases. The second encounter occurred in the Islampura police jurisdiction. Police said the suspects turned around, opened fire and sped away. During the exchange, they lost control of their motorcycle and crashed into a wall. One suspect escaped, while the other was injured.
