Stop Killing Games condemns GTA 6 leaker over leaked footage

Stop Killing Games has condemned the group behind the recent GTA 6 leaks, despite the leaker’s manifesto supporting several of the campaign’s goals.
GTA 6 footage and images began appearing online on August 18, showing gameplay elements including driving, combat, basketball and parts of the Vice City map.
The person or group known as Cyberleek has said the leaks are intended to protest digital pre-orders, “fake” single-player DLC and the lack of an offline version of games.
Those concerns overlap with Stop Killing Games, which campaigns for games to remain playable after developers or publishers take them offline. However, the campaign has rejected the methods used by Cyberleek.
“The group is using the leak to promote a meme coin, attaching crypto links and QR codes to the footage and asking people to pay for more,” Stop Killing Games said.
“Do not send these people your money, no matter how much sympathy you may feel for their actions."
“This is illegal, and frankly, we feel for everyone at Rockstar having to go through this ordeal again, especially just over a week before Rockstar’s own official “Extended Look” premieres.”
The campaign said the leak could harm developers working on GTA 6 rather than support efforts to protect game ownership.
“Using illegal means to make a point is unacceptable to us and does nothing to protect our right to keep using what we paid for,” its representative said.
“No matter how strongly you disagree with the decisions of upper management at these companies, there are still thousands of developers who worked hard on this project, and they’re the ones being hit the hardest.”
Stop Killing Games described the leak as “destructive” and urged supporters to “channel that frustration into something constructive instead.”
Rockstar has not confirmed the leaked footage is legitimate, although the studio has reportedly issued DMCA notices.
