Parliament passes Defence Forces Act

ISLAMABAD:
The National Assembly and the Senate on Thursday passed the National Command Authority (Amendment) Bill 2026 and the Defence Forces Act 2026 during their ongoing sessions.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was present during the voting in the National Assembly.
The bills were presented to the House for approval after the government had tabled them as part of a supplementary agenda.
Earlier, a meeting
of the federal cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz, approved the draft bills.
