Game Science has released a 15-minute trailer for Black Myth: Zhong Kui, providing a closer look at the second entry in its Black Myth series and showcasing the game's combat and visual presentation.

The single-player action role-playing game is inspired by Zhong Kui, a legendary figure in Chinese folklore known as a vanquisher of ghosts and demons.

The latest footage features Zhong Kui battling demons and has prompted reactions from fans praising the game's visuals.

One comment on Game Science's X post said: "It looks like a Netflix movie. Can't wait to play it," while another described the graphics as "unreal" and said they were "far better than Wukong".

The trailer follows the game's initial reveal in 2025, when Game Science showed a cinematic teaser while the project remained in early development. The Hangzhou-based studio has yet to announce a release date or window.

Game Science first unveiled Black Myth: Zhong Kui at Gamescom Opening Night Live in August 2025. It later released a six-minute in-engine video on February 10, 2026, as a Chinese New Year special, describing the footage as non-canon content rather than part of the game's story.

Chinese players have also highlighted improvements compared with Black Myth: Wukong, particularly in "scenes, animation, optimization and materials".

One Bilibili user also said the new title appeared to move beyond Wukong's predominantly dark aesthetic, with cooking, fishing and music adding "more of a sense of everyday life and a human touch."

Game Science founder Feng Ji outlined development principles alongside the trailer, stressing the importance of creating games that genuinely move the developers, exploring new forms of visual expression and testing ideas in practice.
