Inde Navarrette was reportedly close to joining Michael Mann’s highly anticipated Heat 2 before landing the major role of Rogue in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men film.

According to Page Six Hollywood, Navarrette met with Mann about Heat 2 and was being considered to play Charlene Shiherlis, the wife of Chris Shiherlis. The character was originally portrayed by Ashley Judd in Mann’s 1995 crime classic Heat.

Had Navarrette joined the sequel, she would have appeared opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, who is set to portray a younger version of Chris Shiherlis, the character originally played by the late Val Kilmer.

Heat 2 is expected to span multiple timelines, including events before and after the original film. The story is based on Mann’s 2022 novel, which expands the world of the original Heat and follows several characters across different periods.

Navarrette ultimately landed another major franchise opportunity. She was announced at D23 as the new Rogue for Marvel Studios’ X-Men, giving the rising actress a prominent role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actress previously starred in the horror hit Obsession, which reportedly earned nearly $496 million worldwide on a budget of less than $1 million. She is also attached to Invertigo, a horror project about teenagers trapped on a roller coaster after a system failure.

The actress who will ultimately play Charlene in Heat 2 has not yet been officially announced. The sequel is expected to feature DiCaprio alongside Christian Bale, Adam Driver, Stephen Graham and Jason Clarke.

Amazon MGM Studios is backing Heat 2 after acquiring the project from Warner Bros. Filming is expected to begin later this year, with a potential 2027 theatrical release.
