Pakistan braces for busy cricket season
Pakistan is set for a busy international cricket season as Sri Lanka’s tour combines T20Is and a Test series with a high-profile ODI tri-series featuring England and Pakistan.
The Sri Lankan team will begin its tour with three T20Is at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on October 9, 11 and 13. The matches will provide both sides with an opportunity to assess their squads and build momentum before the longer formats.
Attention will then turn to the ODI tri-series involving Pakistan, Sri Lanka and England. All three teams will compete in a seven-match tournament, with the final scheduled for October 31.
The tri-series will open on October 18 when Pakistan face Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi. Pakistan will then meet England on October 20, followed by Sri Lanka’s clash with England on October 22. The action will move to Lahore, where Pakistan will play England on October 25 and Sri Lanka on October 27. Sri Lanka and England will meet again on October 29 before the tournament concludes with the final at Gaddafi Stadium on October 31.
After the limited-overs action, Sri Lanka’s tour will shift towards longer-format cricket. A three-day match is scheduled in Islamabad from November 4 to 6, giving players valuable preparation ahead of the Test series.
The first Test will be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from November 9 to 13, while the second Test will take place at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from November 17 to 21.
With international cricket spread across Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Lahore, the schedule promises an action-packed period for Pakistani fans. The combination of three T20Is, a competitive ODI tri-series and two Tests will also provide players with opportunities to showcase their skills across different formats.
