Man kills wife, three in-laws before turning gun on himself
A man allegedly opened fire at his in-laws' home, killing his wife, her parents and brother before shooting himself dead in Chung on Tuesday morning.
The incident took place at around 5:45am in Barkat Colony, where 25-year-old Imran Shaukat arrived armed with a rifle and asked his wife Samia to return home with him.
Police said Samia, who has been living with her parents over marital differences, refused to accompany him, after which Imran opened fire. Samia died at the spot from a gunshot wound to the head.
Her father, Ali Khan, was shot in the chest and 21-year-old brother Zeeshan Khan in the back. Their mother, Shamaila Bibi, was also killed in the firing.
After shooting the four family members, Imran allegedly turned the rifle on himself and died at the spot, raising the death toll to five.
Rescue officials shifted the bodies to Jinnah Hospital, while police reach the scene and launched an investigation.
A woman reported injured in the incident was also taken to the hospital.
A cousin of the attacker's wife, Faisal, told media that Imran had allegedly abducted her around six months ago and forcibly married her.
He said acase of abduction was registered against Imran and he had spent about a month in jail before securing bail.
