Police claimed to have arrested three suspects after a video allegedly showing a man being held against his will and subjected to torture went viral on social media, prompting Vehari District Police Officer Tasawur Iqbal to take notice of the incident.

Police said the incident occurred in Mouza Chheena within the jurisdiction of Sadar Mailsi police station on August 12.

A local resident, Maqbool Ahmed, was allegedly abducted from his home late at night by six men on suspicion of stealing sesame seeds and taken to their guesthouse.

Police said the suspects allegedly detained Maqbool against his will, subjected him to physical abuse and recorded the incident on video.

The footage was later circulated on social media, drawing the attention of police authorities.

Following the DPO's orders, Sadar Mailsi SHO Mazhar Shan registered a case and launched an investigation.

A police team subsequently arrested three alleged key suspects, Muhammad Waqas, Muhammad Qayyum and Muhammad Akram, all residents of Mouza Kharl.

SHO Mazhar Shan said raids were being conducted to arrest the remaining suspects.

DPO Tasawur Iqbal said incidents involving mistreatment of citizens, taking the law into one's own hands and violence would not be tolerated.
