Taylor Swift has praised Phoebe Bridgers’ new album Lost Weekend, calling the singer-songwriter’s latest record an “absolute triumph” and celebrating its deeply personal songwriting.

Swift shared her reaction to the album on Instagram Stories while wishing Bridgers a happy birthday. The pop superstar said she had been unable to stop listening to the record and described it as a gift from Bridgers to her fans.Photo: Instagram

“It’s her birthday but she gave us a gift,” Swift wrote. “Haven’t been able to stop listening. This album is an absolute triumph in every way.”

Swift also highlighted Bridgers’ approach to writing about grief, praising the vulnerability and detail in the songs. She ended her message by wishing Bridgers a happy birthday and expressing her affection for the musician.

The two artists have maintained a close professional relationship for several years. Swift previously featured Bridgers on “Nothing New,” a vault track from Red (Taylor’s Version) released in 2021. Bridgers has spoken warmly about working with Swift, describing the collaboration as a dream and praising Swift’s songwriting and career.

Their musical connection continued in 2023 when Bridgers joined Swift as an opening act for several shows on the Eras Tour, including performances in Nashville and Philadelphia.

Swift and Bridgers also recently reunited outside the music world. The pair attended the U.K. wedding of recording engineers Laura Sisk and Oli Jacobs over the weekend.

Swift’s latest endorsement adds significant attention to Lost Weekend, particularly given her longstanding connection with Bridgers and their shared history as collaborators. Bridgers’ new album has become a notable release for fans of contemporary singer-songwriters, with its themes of grief, honesty and emotional vulnerability drawing particular attention.
