The discussion followed Jenna Ortega’s recent interview with Esquire, in which the 23-year-old actress reflected on her experiences as a child actor. During the conversation, Ortega recalled putting pressure on herself to avoid becoming a burden while working at a young age.

She said there were times when she would go all day without eating or drinking because she did not want to “be in the way.”

The Instagram post referenced those comments while asking fans not to draw conclusions about Ortega based on her appearance or isolated comments from an interview.

“We don’t know what she may be going through,” the message said, while encouraging people to avoid intrusive questions about her private life.
