'Warrior Cats' animated series reveals first footage and character model

The upcoming Warrior Cats animated series has given fans their first look at the long-awaited adaptation, with Tencent Video unveiling early footage and a 3D character model from the project.

The footage and character material were presented at a Tencent Video event, offering fans a first glimpse at how the beloved fantasy book series is being brought to the screen. The project is being developed as the first officially authorised animated adaptation of Warrior Cats.

The series is being produced by Original Force for Tencent Video, with A.C. Bradley serving as showrunner and Rodrigo Blaas directing in collaboration with El Guiri Studios. Bradley is known for her work on What If...?, Ms. Marvel and Tales of Arcadia, while Blaas is an Emmy-winning animator whose credits include Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille and WALL-E.

Based on the books written under the collective pen name Erin Hunter, the animated series will follow the original characters and storylines, beginning with the first story arc, Warrior Cats: The Prophecies Begin. The franchise follows clans of wild cats as they navigate rivalries, alliances and battles across their territories.

The Warrior Cats books have sold more than 90 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 38 languages, making the franchise one of the biggest children's fantasy publishing properties in the world. Its online fanbase has also grown substantially through YouTube, TikTok and the Warrior Cats: Ultimate Edition Roblox game.

The animated series is currently scheduled to debut in 2028 on Tencent Video's platforms across China and Southeast Asia. The newly unveiled footage marks the latest step in bringing the long-running book series to animation after years of fan interest in an official screen adaptation.
