'Heated Rivalry' season 2 adds Emily Hampshire, Edvin Ryding and more to cast

Heated Rivalry season 2 is expanding its cast, with Schitt's Creek star Emily Hampshire, Young Royals actor Edvin Ryding and three other actors joining the hit hockey romance series.

Hampshire, Ryding, Robert Naylor, Sabrina Jalees and Priyanka have been cast in the second season, which is currently in production. They join returning stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, who are reprising their roles as hockey rivals Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov.

The five new additions come as the series continues to expand its world beyond Shane and Ilya's relationship. Details about the characters they will play have not been revealed.

Season 2 will continue the story of Shane and Ilya following the events of the first season. The new episodes are expected to primarily adapt Rachel Reid's The Long Game, the sequel to her Heated Rivalry novel, while also incorporating elements from other books in the Game Changers series.

Hampshire is best known for playing Stevie Budd in Schitt's Creek, while Ryding starred as Wilhelm in Netflix's Young Royals. Naylor has appeared in The Good Doctor and The Umbrella Academy, while Jalees is known for The Second City and Sort Of. Priyanka is a Canadian singer and actor.

The new cast members join previously announced season 2 additions Charlie Gillespie and Justice Smith. Gillespie will play hockey player Troy Barrett, while Smith has been cast as Harris Drover, a social media manager for the Ottawa Centaurs.

Williams and Storrie became breakout stars after the first season followed Shane and Ilya's secret relationship as they balanced their careers as professional hockey players with their growing feelings for each other.

Heated Rivalry season 2 is currently in production and is expected to premiere in spring 2027 on Crave in Canada and HBO Max in the US.
