McGregor says he has resumed drinking during ACL recovery after Pitt's drinking return

Conor McGregor has said he has resumed drinking during his recovery from knee surgery, following Brad Pitt’s reported return to alcohol after seven years of sobriety.

McGregor had planned to remain sober during his year-long layoff following his UFC 329 comeback. His return ended after 69 seconds when he suffered a knee injury against Max Holloway.

McGregor later confirmed that medical scans showed he had torn both his ACL and meniscus. He has since undergone surgery and remains hopeful of completing the final fight on his UFC contract against Holloway.

The former two-division UFC champion said Pitt’s decision to resume drinking influenced his own choice.

Pitt reportedly ended his seven-year period of sobriety during Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding at Madison Square Garden and later discussed his decision in an interview with Esquire.

McGregor subsequently shared a post about drinking his own Forged Irish Stout. “I have decided to have a few pints of ‘The World’s Creamiest Stout @forgedirishstout in support of my fellow actor, Brad Pitt!”

He added, “Take it easy, Brad! Forged Irish Stout is a 4.2% alcohol, true sociable and friendly delicious beverage. Enjoy safely.”

McGregor later posted a video of himself pouring the stout and wrote, “This one’s for you, Mucker!”

The injury represents another significant setback for McGregor, who is facing a lengthy rehabilitation and what NY Fights described as the fifth knee surgery of his career.
