FinMin, PBC discuss investment, reforms
Aurangzeb calls for private-sector-led growth, tech adoption

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb met newly-elected Pakistan Business Council (PBC) Chairman Ziad Bashir and Chief Executive Javed Kureishi to discuss investment, competitiveness and regulatory reforms, the finance ministry said on Tuesday.
Aurangzeb emphasised the need for a stronger focus on private-sector-led growth, noting that businesses must adapt to technological and digital transformation. He encouraged PBC to undertake concise, sector-specific research and provide practical recommendations to support informed policymaking.
The minister highlighted the importance of learning from international experiences and keeping Pakistan's policies aligned with evolving global practices. He discussed opportunities to mobilise international financing through institutions such as the US International Development Finance Corporation and the US Export-Import Bank, emphasising the need for investment-ready projects.
The meeting also covered Pakistan's tax policy and ongoing work on a medium-term tax policy framework.
