Anne Hathaway has responded to social media speculation about her pregnancy after some users questioned whether the actress was wearing a fake baby bump at the premiere of The End of Oak Street.
Hathaway attended the film’s world premiere at the Steven J. Ross Theater in Burbank, California, on Aug. 9. The actress, who is expecting her third child, wore a custom Atelier Prabal Gurung outfit featuring low-rise jeans and a crop top that exposed her pregnancy bump.
Photos and videos from the event prompted some social media users to question the appearance of Hathaway’s stomach. Several commenters claimed that her pregnancy bump looked artificial, with some suggesting it resembled a prosthetic belly commonly used in film and television productions.

Can anyone explain to me what Anne Hathaway would gain from faking a pregnancy? A woman that already has children, 5 films out this year alone, why would anyone think she would have extra time to fake a pregnancy? https://t.co/f4mKrkISWX

The speculation spread online, prompting Hathaway to address the claims herself. She shared a video from the premiere on Instagram with the caption, “Fake hair, real bump,” directly confirming that her pregnancy is real.
In a later interview with Seth Meyers, Hathaway also discussed becoming pregnant again at 43 and said she was surprised by how easily it happened given her age and previous fertility challenges.
Hathaway is currently promoting The End of Oak Street, a science-fiction survival film directed by David Robert Mitchell and produced by J.J. Abrams. The film also stars Ewan McGregor and is scheduled for release this week.
The online discussion has brought renewed attention to Hathaway’s pregnancy as she continues her promotional appearances for the film.
