Suspected terrorist arrested near President House

Islamabad Police arrests him on tip-off provided by another arrested suspect Sardar Ali Khan Khattak.

ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad Police has arrested an alleged terrorist near the President House on Wednesday, reported Express 24/7.

Police sources said that the alleged terrorist was arrested on a tip-off provided by another suspect, Sardar Ali Khan Khattak, who is already under police custody.

The police shifted the arrested man to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

The scope of the investigation was also widened and important revelations are expected.

Earlier on Sunday, Interior Minister Rehman Malik revealed that Khattak, a government employee suspected of planning a suicide attack in the city, was arrested by the security agencies in Islamabad.

In August this year, the city police and security agencies arrested four suspected terrorists, all members of a terrorist outfit based in Mohmand Agency, from a house in Sector G-6, which is inside the high-security Red Zone. A suicide jacket was recovered from them, and they were only waiting for the bomber.

Khattak, a naib-qasid in the Finance Division who was on leave for two years, was allegedly facilitating the terrorist group in their planned attacks on a Quds Day rally and at sensitive buildings in the capital.

The Qari Shakil group is based in Machini in Mohmand Agency and operates under the umbrella of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.
