Jane Krakowski and Angourie Rice star in Amanda Lipitz’s 'Nice Eggs'

Jane Krakowski and Angourie Rice have completed filming on Nice Eggs, an independent coming-of-age drama directed by Amanda Lipitz in her narrative feature debut.

The film was shot in New Jersey and is written by Sandi Farkas, who previously collaborated with Lipitz on the scripted podcast Motherhacker. Nice Eggs follows a young woman as she navigates a difficult relationship with her mother while attempting to break a generational cycle of unhealthy relationships and establish her own identity.

Rice plays Cori Mulligan, a young woman growing up in a small town while facing limitations imposed by the people around her. She also struggles with a mother who cannot protect her and pursues her ambition of becoming a writer. The character is determined to show others that there is more to her than their first impressions suggest.

Krakowski portrays Cori’s mother, Ellen, a charismatic woman whose own unrealised ambitions have shaped her life. Ellen once dreamed of becoming a star but is now affected by personal struggles that damage many of her relationships, including those with her daughters.

Lipitz said the film explores themes including mothers and daughters, generational patterns and how early experiences can influence people throughout their lives.

Henry Tisch and Lipitz are producing Nice Eggs for Key to the City Productions, alongside Diane Nabatoff, Tory Metzger and Farkas.

Krakowski is known for 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. She has also appeared on Broadway and in London’s West End, while hosting Fox’s Name That Tune.

Rice has appeared in The Last Thing He Told Me, Mare of Easttown, the Spider-Man franchise and Mean Girls. She will next star in Finding Emily, scheduled for a U.S. theatrical release on Aug. 28.

Lipitz previously directed documentaries including Found and Step and co-created the scripted podcast Motherhacker.
