K-P rejects fake claims about Ghazi merger

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Provincial Minister for Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, on Sunday rejected as baseless the circulating reports and an alleged fake announcement claiming that Tehsil Ghazi would be separated from the province and merged with Punjab.

Addressing the matter, the minister said certain elements had spared no effort in spreading false propaganda and fabricated news day and night ever since Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi assumed office. He described the propaganda about including Tehsil Ghazi in the federation as merely another link in the same chain of misinformation.

Shafi Jan noted that the public is fully aware of such groundless campaigns and that those who repeatedly peddle lies ultimately become victims of their own falsehoods.

He stressed that any change in the geographical status or boundaries of a province cannot be effected through a mere announcement. Such a step requires fulfilment of constitutional requirements and a formal constitutional amendment.
