Tate McRae gets trolled online over 'fake' Neutrogena skincare routine in sponsored video

Tate McRae has faced online criticism and mockery after viewers questioned whether she actually used the skincare products featured in a sponsored Neutrogena video.
McRae shared the sponsored TikTok on August 5, 2026, showing her “post show routine” on a plane.
The video features Neutrogena makeup remover wipes, Hydro Boost moisturiser and under-eye patches.

The discussion centres on the opening part of the routine, where McRae appears to wipe her eye makeup with a Neutrogena wipe.
However, viewers noted that her makeup appeared largely unchanged afterwards.
She then applies what appears to be moisturiser to her cheeks, although the video makes it difficult to determine whether there is visible product on her fingertips. Viewers also noticed a second lid on the product that McRae seemingly did not take off.
The under-eye patches are the clearest part of the routine, with McRae visibly applying them.
Viewers quickly began questioning the authenticity of the routine, particularly because McRae appeared to retain much of her makeup throughout the demonstration.

The reaction was comparable to an earlier controversy involving Millie Bobby Brown, who was criticised over a skincare tutorial and later acknowledged concerns about the way the products were demonstrated.
However, there is no confirmation that McRae did not use the products.
The sponsored video has nevertheless prompted debate over how celebrities demonstrate beauty products in paid social media campaigns, particularly when viewers expect a routine to show clear before-and-after results.
