Keith Urban reportedly feels relief after Nicole Kidman moves on with Michael Reinstein following 19-year marriage

Keith Urban is reportedly feeling a sense of relief as his former wife Nicole Kidman moves on with businessman Michael Reinstein following the end of their 19-year marriage.

According to sources, Urban had been unhappy with aspects of the couple's high-profile lifestyle and was ultimately the person who chose to end the relationship.

Kidman and Urban separated in late 2025, shortly before what would have been their 20th wedding anniversary.

Kidman was later photographed with Reinstein in Portofino, Italy. The pair reportedly met at a pre-Oscars party earlier this year, months after Kidman and Urban finalised their divorce.

A source claimed Urban had become uncomfortable with the public nature of their life together.

"Keith's been unhappy for a long time," the insider claimed. "He didn't want to be on another red carpet or have a staff full of people and be forced to wear designer [clothes]. He doesn't care about any of that. That's not who he is, and he's been dealing with it for a long time."

The source added, "He just wants to make music and play music. The rest was all very complicated and outside of his comfort zone."

Kidman previously acknowledged Urban's desire for private time during a 2020 interview with Marie Claire. "At times, he just needs to escape with his guitar," she said.

"Sometimes I'll find him in his closet playing guitar. That's when I know we really need to give him space."

Sources have additionally claimed that disagreements over parenting arrangements have created tension following the divorce.

However, neither Kidman nor Urban has publicly addressed the latest claims about their relationship or their reported reactions to each other's personal lives.

Urban's reported decision to leave has also been attributed by an insider to his desire for a quieter future away from Hollywood obligations.

"He left her," the source said, claiming Urban could not picture Kidman in his future.
