Taylor Swift removes multiple songs from Trump team's TikTok posts

Taylor Swift has taken steps to distance her music from Donald Trump's political messaging after multiple songs were removed from TikTok videos posted by the Team Trump account.

Fans noticed that Swift's music had been silenced on several posts from the account, with the videos now displaying a message stating that the copyright owner has not made the sound available in the viewer's country.

One of the most recent videos featured Trump and first lady Melania Trump watching fireworks, accompanied by Swift's 2020 song august from her album folklore. The post included the caption, "I'm sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song!" which appeared to be a deliberate reference to Swift's well-known political differences with Trump.

Another Team Trump post that has lost its audio used Father Figure from Swift's The Life of a Showgirl. The 2025 video featured Trump with his youngest son, Barron, before cutting to footage from the July 2024 assassination attempt against Trump. Lyrics from the song were displayed over the footage, including "You pulled the wrong trigger."

Swift has not publicly commented on the removals. Entertainment Weekly reported that it contacted representatives for both the singer and the White House for comment.

The latest incident follows a long-running political clash between Swift and Trump. During the 2024 presidential campaign, Trump shared an AI-generated image falsely suggesting that Swift endorsed him. Swift subsequently endorsed Kamala Harris, saying the fake image reinforced her decision to be transparent about her actual political views. Trump responded at the time that Swift was "a very liberal person" and suggested she could "pay a price" commercially for her political stance.

The dispute also comes weeks after the White House attempted to troll Swift during her wedding week by sharing AI-generated posts referencing her imagery and album eras.
