Netflix has launched one of its boldest marketing campaigns yet by placing a real man inside a fully functioning billboard above Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood to promote its new apocalyptic sci-fi thriller, The Last House.

The towering installation recreates the film's isolated home, complete with a living room, furniture, books and household items. A performer is living inside the billboard from August 6 to 8, visible through large windows as he reads, plays cards and communicates with passersby using a whiteboard. The billboard also poses the question, "How long can you survive?", echoing the film's central mystery.

Directed by Louis Leterrier, The Last House stars Greta Lee and Wagner Moura as parents who suddenly find themselves trapped inside their home with their children after an invisible force prevents them from leaving. As the years pass and supplies dwindle, the family must adapt to their confinement while trying to uncover the truth behind the mysterious barrier surrounding their house.

Speaking about the project, Leterrier described the film as both a survival thriller and a meditation on the illusion of safety, while Lee and Moura praised its emotional depth and unpredictable twists. The unusual billboard activation mirrors the claustrophobic premise by placing its performer in a confined living space high above one of Los Angeles' busiest streets.

The Last House premieres on Netflix on August 7, with the immersive billboard stunt already drawing crowds and attention online as one of the streamer's most ambitious promotional campaigns to date.
